I'm not sure what I was expecting when I bought this book. I bought it because I had just put a dog to sleep that I had loved for 14 years and I was very depressed. I am no stranger to pet loss -- in my life I have had to put three dogs and a cat to sleep, and each time it was devastating. I sought comfort in this book, and I am so glad that I did. I was extremely impressed with Ms. Shanahan's research. She included Biblical excerpts from both the Old and New Testaments, translations of the original Hebrew and Greek words, and information from authors who have previously written on the subject of animals in Heaven (few though they may be). She provides charts to help explain what complex verses mean, and after all of the research, she includes personal accounts from children who have had near death experiences as well as her personal experience. She truly researched the subject inside and out before the publication of this excellent book. It has brought me much comfort. My only complaint is that at times it tends to read much like a reference book and it's difficult to get into the flow, but the depth of information tremendously outweighs this mild inconvenience.
I had toyed with the idea of buying this book for a long time. Finally, after getting into a conversation with a friend with a different point of view, I ordered it. I was not disappointed.
I have studied the Bible for years, and I believe it has the answers people are searching for today. This book uses the original Hebrew/Greek texts to show God's amazing love and provisions for ALL His creation.
After reading this book, people could still have the opinion that animals do not go to Heaven, but they could not take a dogmatic position based on the Bible.
I think this book should be read by all parents and Sunday School teachers, as this is a question virtually all children and adults wrestle with at some point in their lives.
There is Eternal Life for Animals
I cant say enough good things about how this book is written. As a christian, it helped to reaffirm my faith and reconnects me with God's Word. Very, very comforting and reassuring. A must for grieving pet owners.

I purchased Eternal Life for Animals after a very close friend's dog passed away after a long illness. I've lost dogs, myself, and I know the pain that we feel. All the positive reviews say it all. It is beautifully written, and expresses the essence of the love that we give and receive from our pets.
